Summer Décor is Knocking

It’s nearing that time when we can seek to swap out bulky knits and heavy boots for swimsuits and flip-flops—summer is almost here! In preparation, we here at Interior White have kept our ears, noses and eyes to the ground to identify the ultimate summer interior looks to get in place over the next couple of months.

Since the longer spring days are ideal for letting in natural light and taking advantage of the cool breeze, it’s an ideal time to start enjoying the great outdoors again with some alfresco dining with family and friends.

Mediterranean Style: Bring the Sea Home

Whenever we think of summer, the sound of waves and seagulls come to mind, as well as that unmistakable smell of salty seawater. As there’s no denying that the summer and the sea go hand in hand, there is no better way to pay a tribute by bringing home a taste of the Mediterranean.

The Mediterranean style can be found on the gorgeous shores of Spain, Greece, Italy, Turkey and North Africa. Traditional homes of the Mediterranean are characterised by their white walls and intense blue motifs. Hues of blue that are as bright as the sky and as clear as the waters of the Mediterranean.

The core basis of your Mediterranean home should have these white canvas walls with blue details. By doing so, you can take advantage of any natural light during the months with the most sunlight in the year.

But don’t just stick with one tone—the warm colours in your furniture can bring vivacity and joy to your space. Mediterranean furniture is characterised by the use of noble materials such as wood, wicker, woven plant fibres, glass, ceramics, cotton textiles… even wrought iron.

Don’t forget to fill your space with various planter pots and vases too. Also, poufs, cushions and baskets will bring touches of the North African coast to your home, making an irresistible classic style statement!

Relax + Unwind with Pastel Colours

If you’re looking for something more delicate, gentle and light-hearted, a pastel colour palette would be the ideal choice. Since summer is the preferred season for vacationing and relaxing away from our stressful day-to-day environments, why not make your home a peaceful sanctuary?

The use of pastel colours on your walls and furniture will introduce tranquillity and light to your space—much needed after a long day of work!

Go Boho Chic + Reveal Your Rebellious Side

Alternatively, if you’re a fan of bright and bold colours that purposefully contrast each other, the bohemian style has your name written all over it. It’s a look not governed by rules and the bold use of colour is essential to its design—it relies on the use of happy and vibrant colours.

It may seem extravagant combining various styles and colours to achieve the boho look, but with the right assemble, your home can ooze style and personality. A dash of hippy, a pinch of ethnic and a touch of oriental… the result, in addition to being fun and casual, will absolutely fascinate every guest.

The trick with boho is to envision your home as a blank canvas, the perfect foundation to let loose and give free rein to your creativity. So go on—flaunt your style with no restrictions and see what occurs.

Be daring and combine exotic themes with retro furnishings. Reserve some space for a paint-chipped, worn or aged table that adds an earthy and wild ambiance to your home and has thousands of stories to tell. Attractive and unique pieces full of character truly personify bohemian grandeur.

Urban Jungle: Let Nature Invade Your Home

For an additional pop of colour, why not source it from nature itself? The Urban Jungle theme literally transforms your home into a jungle. Rediscover your connection with nature by incorporating plants of all kinds into your decor. Pendants, vines or planter pots all have a place here.

Seek to portray the ferocity of the wild with the comfort of the city and nothing can go wrong. By combining your plants with wicker and rattan furnishings, you will see that plants and natural materials seem to go hand in hand.

Decorate your spaces with this wild touch and let plants breathe new life into your home!
